PARKSIDE LEADERSHIP

Parkside’s leaders hail from a diverse background of many different denominations and generations. We’re guided by an ordained minister, plus elected elders and elected deacons. Nothing too hierarchal here, but nothing loosey-goosey either.

Rev. Colin Kerr
Minister

Colin Kerr (M.Div) is the founding pastor of Parkside Church. He previously spent eight years assisting historic congregations with church renewal strategies, planting a new multi-campus college ministry at College of Charleston and the Citadel, and received the Baird Prize for Preaching at seminary. He is author of four books, of which one is actually worth buying. Colin has a passion for beach volleyball, craft beer, and consensus-oriented dialogue — usually over craft beer. He is the father of an overly cute daughter with a weird Gaelic name and two twin boys. His fourth and hopefully final book, Faith Hope Love: The Essentials of Christianity for the Curious, Confused, and Skeptical, is now available in hardcover and ebook. He can be reached here.

Erin Norton
Director of Worship

Director of Presbyterian Campus Ministry

Erin (M.Mus) is a Charleston native and lover of all things joyful and creative and holds two masters degrees while currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. She has spent the past 15 years using her music gifts to serve in various churches across the lowcountry. In 2021, Erin was asked to lead campus ministry for the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery at the College of Charleston (Empowher) and Citadel Millitary College (Presbyterian Journey). She shares her love of music with students young and old through private lessons while also gigging and coordinating music for weddings and special events. When Erin is not teaching, playing, or leading coffee shop bible studies, she is proudly raising a spirited and imaginative daughter, Abigail, that you’ll probably spot running barefooted around the church. She can be reached here.

Elizabeth Vice
Theologian to Children

Elizabeth Vice began her journey as an educator at the feet of her mother who loved learning and sharing what she learned with others. She has years of training and education both in human development, Montessori pedagogy, and theology. She finds great joy while bouldering and gardening, and relaxes by weaving on a ten foot loom. She’s also a fan of British TV mysteries – the sillier the better. Elizabeth lives in the Park Circle neighborhood with her husband, Daniel, which keeps her close to her two adult children Andrew and Iah. She can be reached here.

Mary Elizabeth McDonald
Director of Fun

Mary Elizabeth is originally from Georgia. She moved to Charleston in 2020 to work at the South Carolina Aquarium. She works primarily with volunteers in education and has a big heart for people, not to mention a keen eye for making everything around her look a bit cuter. More than anything, she wants you to have fun and feel welcome! She can be reached here.

Steven Bramlett
Media / Creative Consultant

Steven Bramlett (Realtor ® & BA Biblical Studies) has seen some things. What things? Well, he went to Liberty University for starters. But despite that, Steven still brings his passion for people and the city of Charleston to the Parkside community. With a degree in Biblical Studies and ministry jobs as a teaching pastor, youth minister, and church planter, he has plenty of different tools in his ministerial toolbox to offer Parkside community groups. Always willing to listen (and talk), please feel free to say hi to Steven and his family. He can be reached here.

Our 2023 “Read and Share” Church Resolution

thinking about coming sunday?

We know visiting a new church can be intimidating. We’ll do our best not to be too awkward (a little awkwardness can be cute though), but we’d also like to make it smoother for you.
